‘Great Soul’ of a Nation
Mohandas K. Ghandi was born on October 2nd 1869 and became known as ‘Mahatma’- meaning ‘Great Soul’ and referring to his determined, non-violent campaigning against British rule in India - before his assassination in 1948.
