Mary Anne Evans was born in Warwickshire in November 1819 and went on to live a colourful, controversial life and to create some of English literature’s great works, under the pen name 'George Eliot'.
Holds a massive range of periodicals from the late 17th century through to the 1930s, including the Westminster Review, to which George Eliot – among a number of other prominent figures – was a regular contributor.
