An oral history resource capturing and sharing stories of flooding in the Severn catchment area.
Co-FAST is a community oral history archive, facilitated by the University of Gloucestershire, using storytelling techniques alongside Web 2.0 technologies to record the stories of communities affected by flooding in the middle/lower Severn river cachement area in England.
The project builds on an existing oral history archive, which captured stories between 2004 and 2006, and includes audio, video and photo archives as well as a rich range of stories from those experiencing the devastating effects of flooding.
Of interest to researchers engaged with communities examining the impact of flooding and climate change, as well as engagement with science more generally. The resource is of particular interest to those local communities themselves affected by flooding and it could be used more widely as a teaching and learning resource around awareness of flooding and the environment.
Memories of the devastating 1947 and 2007 floods provide an important resource for those studying the impact of extreme natural events on local communities.
