East London Lives 2012

A ‘living’ archive of the changes in East London during the run-up to the 2012 Olympics.

East London Lives 2012

East London is currently changing by the day and the area’s inhabitants are witnessing developments at a rapid pace. Many areas of East London presently face major socio-economic challenges. Developments leading up to 2012 are seeking to combat this.

The Olympic bid promised to improve the health and well-being of residents in Greenwich, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Newham and Hackney and to regenerate the most socio-economically deprived areas – this ‘living’ archive will track the ongoing success of the Olympic bid’s commitment.

How can this collection be used in teaching, studying and research?

Students, teachers and researchers of socio-economic history, current and future trends and those generally interested in the history and regeneration of East London will uncover photos, blogs and video created by both users and administrators of the archive.
