Professor Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf studied tribal cultures in South Asia and the Himalayas from the 1930s to the 1980s and amassed an outstanding collection of biographical and background information on the region.

The collection demonstrates the breadth and depth of a lifetime of devoted study and illuminates not only its subject matter but also the work of scholars and anthropologists during the 20th century.

Includes over 21,000 photographs and 3200 slides, as well as over 100 hours of cinefilm and written material including field notes, diaries, essays, conference papers and lectures.
