Fihrist

This searchable catalogue provides electronic access for the first time to over 3000 basic descriptions of Islamic manuscripts in the holdings of the Bodleian and Cambridge University libraries. Including both Persian and Arabic manuscripts the wide subject coverage includes literature, religion, philosophy, poetry, mathematics, astronomy and medicine.

The database can be browsed by 'People', Classmark', 'Library' and 'Works' making it easy to find particular items and a poweful search offers more detailed results. The records have been compiled using a TEI/XML schema which provides an extensible framework allowing for future enhancements, including detailed descriptions and digital representations of the manuscripts.
