Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Journals Archive

Over 160 years of publications from the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Journals Archive

This online archive features all articles and journals published by the Royal Society of Chemistry and its forerunners – including the Chemical Society, which was formed in London in 1841 and awarded a royal charter seven years later. In 1980, the Chemical Society joined with three other groups to form the Royal Society of Chemistry and the archived work of these four amalgamated groups is now available in digitised form.

Journals and other materials in the archive date back to the 1840s, with some of the 19th century titles available including memoirs, meeting notes and periodicals from the Chemical Society, which was very active during the 19th century. A range of modern publications are also archived online - including the relatively young journals, Green Chemistry and Geochemical Transactions.

160 years of chemical research are broken down into 1.4 million unique pages of published work, with full text searching, reference linking and a number of options for accessing the digitised publications.

How can this collection be used in teaching, studying and research?

This collection is of great use to students, teachers and researchers of the wider subject of chemistry, while also being of real value to those with specialist interests, as it offers access to the full variety of publications the Royal Society of Chemistry have published. Those studying the history of science or the mid to late 19th century in general will also find this collection interesting.
