Strandlines Digital Community

Explore the history and community of one of London's most famous streets.

Strandlines Digital Community

Based around the famous London street, The Strand, Strandlines is a digital community of academic researchers, residents, workers and visitors, a space to share stories and images and uncover memories and acrhive material. As well as rich source of material for research into the area (as local history and as urban space) the website offers a template for community engagement and digital inclusion - users can see and benefit from the results of Strandline's work with older people and community groups.

Anyone can register with the site and contribute a 'Strand' - and contributions range from archive material capturing forgotten facets of everyday life through images of long forgotten community activism, to often moving personal accounts of the area's significance.
