Visualising China

With Chinese history growing as a field of study and research this important resource makes over 8000 digitised photographs of China available. Covering the period 1870-1950 (supplemented with images from wider, cross-searchable sources going back to 1850) Visualising China vividly illustrates this important period in the emergence of Modern China - capturing images of revolutionary leaders, a country in the thralls of modernisation and its people. Offering access to many previously unseen photographic archives users are free to annotate and enhance a growing resource.
